This listing is for a solid “Central American COCOBOLO" drying rack setup with 10+1 REM0VABLE HEX based stainless steel pins-LONG Pin design & 3 handles..
Also included with the 3 handles is a magnetic base holder. The handles are made entirely of COCOBOLO wood. The drying rack and the magnetic base holder are constructed with a COCOBOLO/Corian "BLACK GRANITE "laminate.
Set includes:
1. Traditional "Thumb Screw" handle specifically for HEX based long pins
2. "Quick Release" handle for use with the HEX based long pins
3. Allen wrench handle (optional- can be used in place of the thumb screw to make winding the turks head easier)
4. Magnetic base holder for all 3 handles
5.11 hole drying rack
6. 11 Stainless steel Long Pin HEX based pins
The design of these pins allows them to be used for either standard bassoon reeds or contra bassoon reeds. The dimensional taper of these pins is similar to both the CHRISTLIEB pins and the RIEGER pins.
If look you closely at the picture, you will see that this 10 pin rack actually has 11 pins (6 in the back row, 5 in the front row). So- the "+1" is the FREE pin that is referred in the heading of this listing.
The pins in this rack are made of high grade stainless steel. They are precision made from stainless 304 steel and hold heat extremely well during the forming process. Although slightly more costly, the choice of stainless steel for these mandrels (not brass or standard less expensive steel), guarantees these tips will last a lifetime, and additionally, provide an extremely smooth surface for forming.
With the exception of German made PFERD handles....All the handles I use for all my tools (reamers, holding mandrels, forming mandrels, Quick Release handles, shaper handles, etc) are hand lathed by me personally.
